LG has explicitly stated in its press release about high-resolution
8K displays that Apple is working on an iMac with 8K resolution display
that it will be announcing “later this year.”
In a press release published last week, LG highlights the benefits of
Quad UHD 8k (7680 x 4320) resolution displays — which have 2x more
pixels than a 4K resolution display.
Apple has not really announced anything about an iMac with a 8K resolution display as the press release claims, so this statement from the Korean company is false. Additionally, there have been absolutely zero rumors and leaks about Apple working on an iMac with an 8K display, so it is unlikely that the Cupertino company will release an iMac with 8K resolution display this year.Apple has also announced that they will release the ‘iMac 8K’ with a super-high resolution display later this year. Korea is also preparing to offer an 8K service demonstration at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. LG Display displayed a new beacon of the 8K era by revealing their 98-inch 8K Color Prime Ultra HDTV at CES 2015.
It was only last year that Apple had unveiled the iMac with 5K resolution display. Thus, the chances of the company releasing an iMac with 8k resolution just a year later are very slim.
