Apple planning March event for Apple Watch 2; ‘iPhone 6c’ a possibility

The Apple Watch 2 isn’t official just yet, but the expectation that Apple could unveil the successor to their first smartwatch soon is getting higher.

According to a new report published recently by 9to5Mac, Apple is currently planning an event in the first part of 2016. Specifically in March, 2016. While on stage, according to the report, Apple will unveil the second-generation Apple Watch, based on information gathered by “sources with knowledge of the plans.” If that pans out, then Apple is expected to begin shipping the Apple Watch 2 in April — right in line with a yearly refresh schedule for the Cupertino-based company.

As for what’s new in the Apple Watch 2, it’s expected that some of the technologies that have been rumored off-and-on, and have been in development within Apple for quite some time, will make the cut this time around. That could include sleep tracking, a new camera, and more health sensor technologies, and perhaps even more. However, what Apple has determined will work in the second-gen Apple Watch remains unclear at this point.
Recent reports have pegged June 2016 as the launch date for the Apple Watch 2, but it’s beginning to look like Apple might stick to a yearly cycle for its most personal device to date.
The report also states that the “iPhone 6c,” Apple’s rumored upcoming 4-inch iPhone, could also be unveiled at the March event. Details on this device are light, however, with the report only suggesting that the handset would indeed boast that 4-inch screen, but the specifications would fall somewhere between the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 6s. Recent rumors have suggested the phone could boast an A9 chip inside, and feature things like Apple Pay.
A March event wouldn’t be completely unheard of for Apple. In March of this year, Apple unveiled the 12-inch MacBook, and finalized the first-generation Apple Watch ahead of its public launch. In 2012, Apple held another March event, that one to unveil the Retina Display-equipped iPad.
