as far as i am aware there is no current jailbreak available for those unlucky enough to have upgraded to the official 4.0
when i do this it puts me into recovery mode after i restore it the second time with 3.1.2 and it says to not put it into dfu. after i do that its in recovery mode and redsn0w wont work unless its in DFU which i cant do because its in recovery. what am i doing wrong?

My iPhone4 4.2.1 on baseband 02.10.04 have got unlocked by using Subscriber Artificial Module(SAM). Before this, I am stuck at 4.1 02.10.04 and so I take my chance to unlock using SAM and it really works.

I jailbroke my iPhone4 4.1 with Sn0wbreeze 2.2 with iREB to 4.2.1. Then I install ultrasn0w 1.2 but it dosen’t works. But, I don’t uninstalled. Then I did complete upgrade to cydia. Then, I added repo ” repo.bingner.com ” and installed SAM. Then, in settings, I did ” revert lockdown to stock ” and ” Deactivate “. Then I used ” Wildcard Activation “. And I rebooted. Then, iTunes accepted my activation and it was unlocked.
It is really simple. I think it is done by SAM. Before this, I am stuck at 4.1 02.10.04. I don’t lie and I am not a spammer. SAM is free for all and it is not for sold. I have no profit advertising that SAM. But, I used and it works. An iPhone without unlock is just like an iPod touch, isn’t it?
So, if you have free time, you should try it.

There are jbs available already for 4.2.1 and lower (gp,sb,lr,pwnage tool). All unthered. This new jb is for 4.3/4.3.1. Hope this helped.

Why is it so difficult to unlock certain updates, for eg. 04.10.01 for iphone 4?
When I jailbroke my 3gs phone the first time, I had so many app icons that there was not enough desk space for all my icons. Once I moved a number of app icons to some common folders and freed up some desk space I re-jailbroke my phone and the Cydia and some other icons showed up. Everything worked perfectly. Thanks!

Simply install unltrasn0w through Cydia like you did on older iPhone models and your iPhone 3G S and/or iPhone 4 should be unlocked.

weird updating from spirit 3.1.3 to 4.01.
even before i JB 4.01, most my cracked apps and cydia apps appeared and worked. only cydia app missing was cydia itself (until i JBed it)
noticing alot of cydia tweaks dont work on 4.01. five row/columns. might downgrade back to 3.1.3 til most cydia apps are updated for 4.01

I am in indian, i bought my at&t iphone 4 with BB 4.10.01. I am using a Airtel network. Till now i was using GEVEY sim and its working fine.
I upgraded to iOS 5.0 while preserving the baseband so its working fine with GEVEY sim.
I tried this method now. It didnt work for me on iphone 4. May be because there is no AT&T network in India. Also when I put my Airtel sim the activation required screen does not come.

Given the previous tethered on A4 chip used Limera1n bottom exploit, I believe this one is untethered because A5 is not vulnerable to Limera1n, pod2g must have new exploit. If you had the chance to read the technical updates on his blog, you would probably guess he must have solved the injection vector issue. Maybe ionic has something to do with the new exploit, only time will tell.
don’t care if its tethered or untethered as long as a jb comes out not picky..finally FaceTime on 4s with hspa+

Since upgrading my 3GS new bootrom with sn0wbreez 2.9, I can’t reboot smoothly. It’s always stuck at apple’s bootlogo screnn. I have to try rebooting several times and it takes forever before it can finally booted (without iBoot anyway!). Anyone with similar situations? I was quick at praising this JB but it seems to have a bug. iH8sn0w should check this out. Thanks!
i got the same error 1604. spent hours trying and trying again, both on osx and wmware win7. tried standalone iREB. then i just used redsn0w 0.9.10b4 Done in 5 minutes. All I want is hotspot functionality
I restored 4S from 3GS backup and it turned off Siri.
In the future, it is a advised NOT to update until there is an available jailbreak for that particular update. Currently, there is NO untethered jb for iOS 5.1, sorry. For those you that have went ahead and updated, unfortunately you wait it out now.
If you have tiny umbrella installed on your computer, open it and click on Advanced tab. Uncheck “set host to cydia on exit”. Apply changes and reboot computer. You can now restore to 5.1
