Before we jump into the tutorial to unlock iPhone 4 I want to start by explain what unlocking actually is. Unlocking is the removal of SIM restrictions on your iPhone so that you can use any carrier you want. This is what most people want to be able to do as it can save them a great deal of money on their monthly bills. It also means that you can continue to use the service provider that you are currently using. With that out of the way, let’s move on to this step by step Unlock iPhone 4 tutorial.Ultrasn0w is a very popular application for unlocking iPhones and it has been updated so that you can now unlock iPhone 4. This is great news and it means that you can now use your iPhone with any carrier you choose. The latest version of ultrasn0w has the support for the carrier unlock for iPhone 4 with a baseband 01,59.00 as well as 3G and 3GS models on baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 05.13.04.The first thing that any iPhone 4 user is going to have to do is jailbreak their iPhone. There are a number of ways taht you can do this. Once you have jailbroken your iPhone you can follow the step by step tutorial below.
Step 1: The first step to unlock iPhone 4 is to launch the Cydia application on your iPhone. Once the application opens you will then need to hit the search button and type in ultrasn0w. When this has been found you should hit install so that ultrasn0w can be installed on your device.
If ultrasn0w doesn’t show up when you type it into the search button you will need to follow the remainder of the steps in this tutorial. If you were lucky enough for it to show up you are almost finished and all you have to do is turn off your iPhone, turn it back on and hey presto you have been able to unlock iPhone 4.
Step 2:
When Cydia has launched you need to hit the manage button and then select sources. You will then need to hit the edit button and then the add button.
Step 3:
In the box that appears where you are asked to enter Cydia/APT URL you will need to type in http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com and then click the add source button. Cydia will then verify the URL that you have typed and then register the repository URL. When this has finished all you have to do is hit the return to Cydia to continue with the unlocking process.
Step 4: You should now have the new URL registered so all you have to do is hit the done button. You will now be able to find the ultrasn0w application and this will automatically unlock iPhone 4. The next step in this process is to turn off your device.
Step 5: Turn back on your device and the ultrasn0w application will now begin the unlock iPhone 4 process. You will now be able to use your iPhone 4 with any carrier you choose.

For those of you having the 3194 error, I fixed it on my 3GS (old bootrom).
Sometimes Windows XP (what I am using) will cache the DNS and not read from the hosts file
Click Start > Run > and type services.msc
Look for the “DNS Client” and disable it – Then try to restore.

I jailbroke my iPhone4 4.1 with Sn0wbreeze 2.2 with iREB to 4.2.1. Then I install ultrasn0w 1.2 but it dosen’t works. But, I don’t uninstalled. Then I did complete upgrade to cydia. Then, I added repo ” repo.bingner.com ” and installed SAM. Then, in settings, I did ” revert lockdown to stock ” and ” Deactivate “. Then I used ” Wildcard Activation “. And I rebooted. Then, iTunes accepted my activation and it was unlocked.
It is really simple. I think it is done by SAM. Before this, I am stuck at 4.1 02.10.04. I don’t lie and I am not a spammer. SAM is free for all and it is not for sold. I have no profit advertising that SAM. But, I used and it works. An iPhone without unlock is just like an iPod touch, isn’t it?

Cydia crashes when I try to open it. Used ICY to SSH into the phone so I could delete the files in /var/lib/apt/lists, but there were no files there to delete. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My iPhone4 4.2.1 on baseband 02.10.04 have got unlocked by using Subscriber Artificial Module(SAM). Before this, I am stuck at 4.1 02.10.04 and so I take my chance to unlock using SAM and it really works.

What’s the difference between shift+click to restore vs just updating through itunes then jailbreak?
If you need ultrasnow to unlock your iPhone… then clicking update from itunes will upgrade your baseband.. and you can’t unlock it with ultrasnow.

After updating to 4.3.1 then jailbreaking with redsn0w, my video camera shutter won’t open. I hoped 4.3.2 jailbreak would fix this problem but it did not. If I use sb settings to put in safe mode the camera works until I respring? Anyone else have the problem or any ideas how to fix?

I have just done a full restore on my Iphone 4 to 4.3.3 and tried again and it now works! So it looks like if you upgraded to 4.3.3 from an older version it wont work, only if u do a restore

i jailbroke my ipod touch 4g and everything went okay until it was done and i was waiting on a reboot, all the screen shows is connect to itunes.
When I try and do steps 5 & 6, it comes up on iTunes saying “The iPod could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible. My iPod currently has the software version 4.2.1.

we aren’t too far from a iPhone 4 jailbreak on iOS 5. I’ve seen some discussions on beta version being jailbroken for developers. The iPad 2 3G still eludes the jailbreakers after 6 months. Hopefully the loss of comex doesn’t hurt future jailbreaking capabilities.

If anyone is having any issues with their data network or signal bar, just reformat a new sn0wbreeze 4.3.2 firmware and follow the jailbreak and unlock again. I couldn’t connect to the internet at first, but I downloaded the firmware and sn0wbreeze again and it fixed any issues I had.

jailbroke ok, but no matter what I do, itunes refuses to see the phone, even though it got my contact back, can not get my original apps back..
After jailbreaking it with Sn0wbreeze 2.6 i no longer had any phone service could not make any calls. Anyone else had this issue???
All you need to do is:
1.) Obtain a copy of “PKGBackup” from cydia (paid App) and install it.
2.) Launch the PKGBackup and backup all your Apps
3.) Sync with iTunes
4.) Right-Click on your iPhone in iTunes and make a complete backup
5.) Upgrade (Restore) your iOS 4.0.1 to the latest following this blog to preserve your baseband
6.) Restore your backup contents made on step 4
7.) If PKGBackup is not present, launch cydia and install PKGBackup
8.) View Restore contents and restore all cydia Apps

When I turn off Airplane Mode after putting in T-Mobile SIM, all I get is SIM FAILURE popup and the top left says Invalid sim. This is an iPhone 4 on ios 5.0

The apple logo on my 4s does expand & shine but only after a data erase before restore from icloud. It happens only once per erase/restore. Not every reboot. I’m not sure what happen to that video.

I’m not sure on this one I want to see it work. Basically due to the floor in the iPhone untethered jailbreak and iBooks. If you can’t use your nice tablet properly for iBooks then what’s the point? A very clumsey work around at the moment for that one?

Since Cydia provides commercial apps, and developers generate income from such apps, there is money at stake. A jailbreak “must” be released, or new generation iPhone owners will simple cease being potential customers for Cydia-based developers. The cycle must go on in perpetuity; Cydia will simply lose the interest of iOS users if new hardware is not supported via a jailbreak.
I have no doubt a jailbreak will be released. By whom and when remain questions. The A4/iOS5.01 jailbreak released recently isn’t brilliant in terms of stability but it got people visiting Cydia repositories again, and it’s a very good sign.

redsnow or snowbreeze, which one is better? any difference?
I have been waiting for Snowbreeze 2.9 to JB and Unlock my 3GS with iOS5.01 BB 05.16.05 but I know I have to upgrade BB to 06.15.00 but I can’t seem to get pass 87% checking when downloading ultraSn0w. Is there a fix coming for this? Better yet, is there a downgrade option coming for Ipad 1 BB to stock BB that is unlockable by UltraSn0w?

I would Upgrade the iphone to version 5.0.1 first and then do the jailbreak. I had a jailbreak for 4.2.1 installed before and that’s what I did and it worked flawlessly
That doesnt solve, it just resprings..! the white icons will be back again.
You can install iWipeCache on Cydia. This fixes the white icon problem

iPhone 4 is different from iPhone 4s jailbreak due to a5 chip, the new iPad has a different chip again with the a5x, I think the dream team may have there work cut out for them! I had to get rid of my 4s jailbreak, as I NEEDED the battery fix, but it made it worse, a trip to apple today, got me a new 4s that is running 5.0.1 and NO battery issues, so I can have my jailbreak back, luckily!

Hi! I cant restore it. I get the error (-1). It's wird that Itunes shows me 2 devices: one with the correct information and the other one with no info, just IPHONE. But I've tried both and can't get it restored. 2 devices 2 errors: codes 3194 and -1. The IOs of my phone is 433. I even have switched usb port and got the same erros. Whatelse can I do? Pls help me.
