The popular unlocking solution for the iPhone; Gevey SIM, has updated users of the Gevey Ultra S SIM card that this new SIM will work to unlock iPhone 4S on the newly launched firmware from Apple, iOS 5.1.
Gevey released a hardware based unlocking solution for the iPhone 4S called Gevey Ultra S that worked to unlock iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1 basebands 1.0.11, 1.0.12, 1.0.13. But Gevey Ultra S wasn’t even shipped and Apple released the new firmware iOS 5.1 with a new baseband.
Unlock iPhone 4S On iOS 5.1
Initially Applenberry (Official distributors) mentioned that Gevey Ultra S would be able to unlock iOS 5.1 whenever it comes out but when it did they quickly issued a statement asking users not to update as it wont work. But now Applenberry has again mentioned that Gevey Ultra S would be able to unlock iPhone 4S on iOS 5.1 but only the GSM version, not CDMA. Although CDMA version will be coming out soon when the jailbreak is released for iOS 5.1.GEVEY Ultra S(CDMA+GSM) Will be shipped between March 29th and the 30th. 5.1 will work for GSM, but currently not on CDMA. CDMA 5.1 will work when the jailbreak comes out.
Those users who are currently waiting for an unlock on iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08; there is no news from Applenberry regarding an unlock solution. Whenever there is a solution we will let you know.
