iOS 6′s “Do Not Disturb” Feature May Not Get Disabled Automatically On New Year’s Day

If you use “Do Not Disturb” schedule feature in iOS 6 then it may not get disabled automatically on New Year’s day.
MacRumors reports that a number of users who use “Do Not Disturb” feature’s schedule functionality are reporting that the feature is not getting disabled automatically.

The schedule functionality allows users to automatically enable the “Do Not Disturb” feature by setting the starting and ending hours for when users don’t want to be disturbed.
MacRumors’s Japanese reader Spacesamurai complains:

I am in Japan so it is 2013, and I am finding that my iOS devices (iPhone 4 and iPad 2) are showing “Do Not Disturb” even though it is outside of the time I set for them. Not sure if this is related to the new year. Reloading the devices does not help and the software is up-to-date.

We’ve also been able to replicate the issue. You have no option but to disable the feature manually. Since the “Do Not Disturb” feature does not disable alarm set with the Clock app, users may not notice the issue, but they will end up missing notifications and calls.
It is not the first time users will be having issues with their iOS device on New Year’s day. In 2012 and 2011, iPhone alarm didn’t work on New Year’s day.
