Beats Music updates iOS app, lowering subscription price and extending free trial

beats-music-appAhead of the confirmation that Apple was acquiring Beats Electronics, the Beats iOS app was updated with a handful of bug fixes and a new pricing structure that both lowers the cost of the yearly subscription and provides an extended 14-day trial.
Previously, Beats Music was available for $119.88 a year with a 7-day free trial for new users. With this latest iOS update, Beats has dropped the price to $99 per year and now offers a longer 14-day trial for users to demo the service for free. These changes were noted in the changelog for the universal app:
  • We’re stoked to announce that our no strings attached trial has been extended to 14 days to ensure everyone gets ample time to explore the full Beats Music experience.
  • We’ve dropped price of our yearly subscription to $99.99, down from $119.88.
  • To top it off, we pushed tons of bug fixes so the whole experience runs smooth as silk.
The Beats Music app is available for free from the iOS App Store. Besides iOS, Beats also maintains apps on the Google Play and Windows Phone stores. Apple confirmed earlier today that the company plans to operate the Beats brand separately and will keep these apps in their existing app stores.
