CustomCover Lets You Reskin Your Currently Playing Album Artwork

With the release of iOS 7, your currently playing album artwork on the lock screen is a simple square with no border, no design, and no fluff. That’s the iOS 7 aesthetic, and it makes sense that Apple would keep lock screen album artwork as simple as possible. But it doesn’t have to be that way; a tweak by the name of CustomCover lets you jazz it up with some artwork skins that will breathe life into your lock screen.
We told you about this tweak back in March of this year, but it was only in beta at the time and only had a few different theme options. Having since left beta and released on the Cydia store, this tweak also recently received an update packed with a bunch of new features.
The premise of CustomCover is simple: album artwork on the lock screen looks boring, and this tweak makes it look less boring. You can choose between 10 different artwork themes including Blank, CD Case, Circle, Clean, Default, Faded, Insert, Ripped (as seen in the screenshot above), Vinyl, and Vinyl mini. After you install the tweak, head over to the Settings app and select “CustomCover”. There, you’ll be able to configure all of the aforementioned settings as well as select a positional offset for the album artwork.
In version 1.2 of CustomCover, you’ll find that the tweak now has the ability to reskin not only the lock screen, but the album artwork within the Music app as well. Additionally, you’ll find a cool new option within the tweak’s “other settings” menu, which allows you to “colourise” the lock screen elements based on the current album artwork. The update also includes a new “faded” theme, and overall improvements.
Here’s how CustomCover looks when used with the Music app:

You can get CustomCover on the Cydia store for $0.99, and that’s a steal especially with all of these new features. The tweak supports all jailbroken devices running iOS 7 or higher.
