Rumor: Apple working on ARM based Macs

ARM Macs
Apple’s current crop of Macs run on Intel’s processors, but a new rumor suggests that Apple is also developing ARM based Macs for a potential launch in the near future. The report claims Apple is working on iMac, the Mac Mini and 13-inch MacBooks with 4-8 64-bit ARM Quad-core processors.
The report from MacBidouille suggests that these new Macs will also come with a new keyboard which will accommodates a larger Magic Trackpad. It is further said that they are currently in late development stages, so it could be closer to launch than we expect. Reports dating back to 2011 had suggested that the company was working on MacBooks with ARM A5 in its labs, although it never came to fruition.
Apple has been making significant improvements to its ARM-based processors. The ARM based A7 chip used in iPhone 5s, iPad Air and Retina iPad mini is considered desktop class. But a switch to ARM based chips for Macs would be an unprecedented switch. One of the biggest concerns would be whether Apple will be able to keep up with Intel’s product roadmap, whose core business is developing chips. So we are quite skeptical about the possibility of ARM-based Macs. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
