Apple opens first retail store in Japan since 2006

Apple Store Omotesando
Yesterday we told you about the first internal memo that Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts sent to employees, in which she detailed an upcoming visit to Japan to visit the first Apple Store opening in the country since 2006. That retail store is located in the Omotesando region, and it opened this morning in the Japanese capital of Tokyo. As expected, Ahrendts was on hand for the grand opening.
We previously shared a video that Apple shared a few days before the opening, which provided a first look at the beautiful new store. The new store has a two floor design with a spiral staircase and large glass exterior. It also has an interesting concept called a green wall for climate control, which is a testament to the environmental responsibility that Apple has taken in recent years.
Ahrendts was spotted taking pictures with several Apple customers, who showed up in large masses for the opening. As usual, Apple had employees on hand to give out freebies and get everyone excited. The niche Apple Store blog IFOAppleStore shared the picture below to put the large lines in context:

We’ve gathered a few pictures of Ahrendts and the grand opening from Twitter:
