One of iOS 8′s major theme has been continuity, that is letting users easily transition from one platform to the other. While Apple demoed continuity between iOS and Mac, iOS 8 also adds similar features for transitioning between mobile Safari and native iOS apps.
Third party apps can now access saved passwords and other
AutoFill info from Safari as long as both of them point to the same
domain. This will make it a lot easier to login to native apps, as the
Safari saved password database is synced across your iPhone, iPad and
Mac. Additionally, apps can also add passwords to Safari’s AutoFill
info, so that the same credentials get reflected across all your
devices.
Users don’t have to worry about privacy, as Apple requires developers
to go through a series of steps to verify that the app and domain are
indeed owned by the same entity.
As a user, you’ll get a popup at the login screen asking you to
select a saved password to use, as shown in the screenshot below:
Additionally, apps will also be able to update or delete password information:
This new feature, coupled with iCloud Keychain sync is going to be
great for easily logging in to websites on any (Apple) platform, even
with auto-generated, complex passwords. Let us know what you think of
