With iOS 8, Apple let developers extend some key system components, one of which is the keyboard. Developers can now create their own keyboards, and let users install and use it system-wide. TouchPal, a gesture keyboard that was earlier a jailbreak tweak and standalone app, today demoed its custom keyboard running on iOS 8.
The minute long demo video shows a standard looking keyboard, but one that can take input via slide gestures, just like Swype. If you’ve used the standalone TouchPal app or the jailbreak tweak, you’ll feel very familiar:
