Verizon announced that it sold 6.2 million iPhones in the fourth quarter, compared to the 3.1 million iPhones in the third quarter of 2012.
Verizon CFO Fran Shammo also revealed the tablet sales doubled during the quarter, which is not surprising when you consider that it was the holiday quarter and the carrier had started offering Apple’s 4th generation iPad, iPad mini and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
GigaOM reports that Verizon has also revealed that about half of the iPhone sales were LTE models, which means that the carrier sold approximately 3.1 million iPhone 5 units in the last quarter.
Verizon also reported that ARPA (average revenue per account) grew by 6.5 percent over fourth quarter 2011, to $146.80 per month. Verizon is now reporting ARPA rather than ARPU (average revenue per user) with the introduction of the shared data plans.
Apple will report its financial results for the first fiscal quarter (fourth calendar quarter of 2012) of 2013 tomorrow.
