NESO Security Labs researcher Andreas Kurtz recently reported on a security flaw in iOS 7 that resulted in email attachments being stored without encryption, despite Apple’s claims that it does encrypt this data.
The jailbreak tweak is appropriately called AttachmentEncryptor. You need to add Ryan’s repo to install the tweak. In case you need help, follow these simple steps:
- Launch Cydia
 - Tap on the Manage tab at the bottom.
 - Then tap on Sources.
 - Tap on the Edit button at the top right corner and then tap the Add button.
 - Enter the following URL – http://rpetri.ch/repo/ and tap on Add Source button.
 - Next search for AttachmentEncryptor by tapping on the Search tab.
 - Tap on AttachmentEncryptor from the search results
 - Tap on the Install button in the top right corner
 - Then Tap on the Confirm button to install the jailbreak tweak
 - Tap on the Restart SpringBoard button when prompted

Meanwhile, Apple has acknowledged the issue, and is working on the fix. It is not the first time the jailbreak community has released a tweak to patch a security issue before Apple. The tweak allows jailbreakers who are on iOS 7.0.x to protect themselves from the security flaw without losing the jailbreak. So kudos to Ryan Petrich.
